가고시마에서 오롯이 하루를 보낼 수 있는 마지막 날, 아침으로 야끼도넛을 먹으러 갔어요. 지나다니며 도넛을 굽는 모습을 보기만 했는데, 너무 맛있어 보이더라고요.

On the last day of our trip in Kagoshima, we decided to start the morning with baked donuts.
I had only seen them being made in passing before, but they looked so delicious that I couldn’t resist coming back.
야끼도넛을 파는 Satsuma Jokiya Kakashi Yokocho는 덴몬칸 아케이드 내부에 있어요. 덴몬칸 거리 중심을 따라 걷다 보면 도넛 굽는 모습과 함께 금방 눈에 띄는 위치라 찾기가 쉬워요.
Satsuma Jokiya Kakashi Yokocho, known for its baked donuts, is located inside the Tenmonkan arcade.
It’s right along the main shopping street, and you can easily spot it by the sight of donuts being freshly baked.
1층은 디저트를 판매하는 공간으로, 야끼도넛을 비롯한 다양한 디저트가 진열되어 있어요.
The first floor is where all the desserts are displayed and sold.
In addition to baked donuts, there’s a wide variety of sweets to choose from.
조각 케이크와 함께 개별 포장된 과자, 떡류 디저트도 다양하게 판매하고 있어 선물용으로 고르기에도 좋아 보였어요.
They also offer sliced cakes, individually wrapped snacks, and traditional Japanese sweets, making it a great place to pick up gifts.
맛있어 보이는 디저트 몇 가지를 고르고, 야끼도넛도 함께 구입했어요. 도넛은 따끈하게 바로 구워져 나와 더욱 기대되더라고요.
We picked out a few desserts that caught our eye and, of course, got some baked donuts as well.
They were freshly baked and still warm, which made them even more tempting.
야끼도넛은 일반 도넛처럼 기름진 느낌은 거의 없고, 오히려 케이크처럼 촉촉하면서도 담백한 맛이었어요.
Unlike regular fried donuts, these baked donuts were light and not greasy at all.
They had a moist texture with a subtle sweetness that made them easy to enjoy.
도넛을 먹고 난 후, 2층에도 올라가보았는데요.
2층은 커피나 차를 즐기며 쉬어가기 좋은 공간으로, 비교적 조용한 분위기였어요.
Upstairs, on the second floor, there’s a quiet seating area where you can relax with coffee or tea.
결제는 현금만 가능하고, 점심 시간에는 간단한 식사 메뉴도 한정적으로 판매하고 있었어요. (이걸 미리 봤더라면, 식사 메뉴를 먹어봤을텐데 다 계산하고 나가는 길에 발견했답니다..ㅠ)
Please note that only cash is accepted, and during lunchtime, they offer a limited selection of light meal options.
(I actually noticed this on my way out—otherwise, I definitely would have tried it!)
2층은 따뜻한 우드톤을 중심으로 꾸며져 있어 일본 특유의 아늑한 분위기가 느껴졌어요.
The second floor is decorated with warm wooden tones, creating a cozy and distinctly Japanese ambiance.
메뉴는 한글로도 적혀 있어 주문은 어렵지 않았어요. 다만 외부 음식물 반입 금지, 현금 결제만 가능, 1인 1메뉴 주문 등의 안내가 있으니 미리 참고하시면 좋아요.
The menu is also available in Korean and English, so ordering wasn’t difficult.
However, there are a few rules to keep in mind: no outside food allowed, cash-only payment, and at least one order per person.
1층에서 구입한 디저트는 함께 먹어도 괜찮다고 해서, 음료를 기다리며 하나씩 천천히 맛봤어요. 여러 가지를 먹어봤지만, 역시 야끼도넛이 가장 맛있더라고요.
Since it was okay to eat the desserts purchased downstairs, we slowly enjoyed them while waiting for our drinks.
Everything was good, but the baked donuts were definitely my favorite.
달달한 디저트를 먹고 있어서, 저는 시그니처 기본 커피인 블렌드 커피를 주문했어요. 블렌드 커피는 산미나 쓴맛이 과하지 않고 밸런스가 좋아, 디저트와 함께 편하게 즐기기 좋은 맛이었어요.
Since we were already having sweet desserts, I ordered their signature blended coffee.
It wasn’t too acidic or bitter, and had a well-balanced flavor that paired perfectly with the desserts.
짝꿍은 말차오레를 마셨는데, 말차라떼 위에 말차가루가 살짝 뿌려져 나왔어요. 쌉싸름한 말차와 부드러운 우유가 잘 어우러져 디저트와 함께 즐기기 좋은 맛이라고 하더라고요.
My husband had the matcha au lait, which was topped with a light dusting of matcha powder.
They said the slightly bitter matcha and creamy milk blended well together, making it a great match for the sweets.
아이는 일본식 파르페를 주문했어요. 1층에서 판매 중인 인기 디저트류와 아이스크림, 과일 등이 함께 올라간 구성이었고, 달콤하면서도 다양한 맛을 한 번에 즐길 수 있었어요.
Our child ordered a Japanese-style parfait.
It was topped with popular desserts from the first floor, along with ice cream and fruits, offering a variety of flavors in one dish.
Satsuma Jokiya Kakashi Yokocho는 야끼도넛을 비롯한 다양한 디저트를 즐길 수 있어 아이와 함께 방문하기에도 좋은 곳이었어요. 쇼핑이나 산책 중 잠시 들러 달콤한 시간을 보내기 좋은 곳으로 추천드리고 싶어요.
Overall, Satsuma Jokiya Kakashi Yokocho is a great spot to enjoy baked donuts and a variety of desserts.
It’s also a nice place to visit with kids, and perfect for a sweet break while shopping or exploring Tenmonkan.
