가고시마에서의 마지막 밤, 저녁으로 회전초밥을 먹으러 갔어요. 숙소에서 도보로 걸어갈 수 있는 거리에 ‘마와루 스시 멧케몬 돌핀포트점’이 있어 슬슬 걸어갔습니다 :)
On our last night in Kagoshima, we headed to a revolving sushi restaurant for dinner.
Luckily, Mawaru Sushi Mekkemon was just a short walk from our hotel, so it was an easy choice.

식당에서 사쿠라지마가 보여서, 기념으로 사진을 더 남겨보기도 했어요. 결코 짧지 않은 여행이었는데 집에 갈 때가 되면 왜이리 아쉬운지..ㅎㅎ
From the restaurant, we could see Sakurajima. It wasn’t a short trip by any means, but somehow it still felt too soon to leave.
오후 5시쯤 방문했는데 웨이팅이 있더라고요. 번호표를 받고 대기석에 앉아 잠시 기다렸습니다. 일본어로 번호를 불러주다보니, 혹시몰라 파파고로 113을 어떻게 발음하는지 검색해보기도 했어요..
We arrived around 5 p.m., and there were already people waiting.
After taking a number, we sat in the waiting area for a bit. Since they call out numbers in Japanese, I even looked up how to pronounce “113” on Papago just in case.
자리를 안내받고 둘러보니, 일본 회전초밥 체인인 갓덴스시와 비슷한 곳이더라고요. 물티슈, 물컵, 간장 종지의 디자인도 거의 흡사했어요.
Once seated, the restaurant reminded me a lot of the Japanese conveyor belt sushi chain Gatten Sushi.
Even the design of the wet towels, water cups, and soy sauce dishes felt very similar.
테이블 위에는 나무 젓가락, 이쑤시개, 메뉴판, 온수 디스펜서(차용 온수기) 등이 기본으로 준비되어 있어요.
On the table, essentials like wooden chopsticks, toothpicks, a menu, and a hot water dispenser for tea were neatly prepared.
접시 색깔별로 가격이 구분되어 있어, 메뉴 선택이 쉽고 직관적이었어요. 가고시마의 상징인 사쿠라지마 화산이 가장 높은 가격대 접시에 그려져 있는 점도 인상적이었어요.
메뉴판을 통해 원하는 초밥을 직접 주문하거나, 회전 레일 위를 지나가는 초밥을 자유롭게 골라 먹으면 됩니다 :)
Prices were clearly indicated by the color of each plate, making it easy and intuitive to choose what to eat.
I also found it interesting that the most expensive plates featured Sakurajima, the symbol of Kagoshima.
You can either order directly from the menu or simply grab whatever catches your eye from the conveyor belt.
아이가 가장 좋아하는 계란 초밥도 주문하고.
We ordered tamago sushi, which is our child’s favorite,
가고시마 향토 음식인 키비나고 초밥도 먹어보았어요.
(와카나에서 키비나고 스시를 먹지 못한 아쉬움을 여기서 달래봄..)
and also tried kibinago sushi, a local specialty from Kagoshima
(it made up for missing out on it at Wakana earlier!).
마요네즈가 뿌려지거나, 토치로 살짝 익히는 등 갓덴스시가 생각나는 종류의 초밥들도 많았어요.
There were also many options similar to what you’d find at Gatten Sushi, such as mayo-topped sushi or lightly torched pieces that add extra flavor.
사쿠라지마가 그려진, 가장 가격대가 높은 접시도 맛보았어요. 고급 3종 초밥으로, 참다랑어 중뱃살과 성게알•연어알 군함, 그리고 천연붉은 새우 초밥으로 구성되어있었어요.
We tried one of the premium plates with the Sakurajima design, which included three items: medium fatty tuna (chutoro), a gunkan topped with sea urchin and salmon roe, and sweet shrimp sushi.
참다랑어 3종도 가장 비싼 접시중 하나였어요. 초밥의 전체적인 퀄리티도 갓덴스시와 비슷해서 입맛에 잘 맞았더라고요.
Another highlight was the three-piece bluefin tuna set, which was also one of the more expensive options.
Overall, the quality of the sushi was quite similar to Gatten Sushi and suited our taste well.
식사가 끝나면 직원분이 오셔서 접시별로 갯수를 세어주시는데요. 디지털 영수증이라 신기하더라고요.
참고로, 여기는 카드 결제가 가능한 곳이에요.
At the end of the meal, a staff member came by to count the plates. It was interesting to see that they use a digital receipt system.

아이와 함께 방문했더니, 선물도 받았어요. 계산할 때 동전 같은 토큰을 하나 주시는데, 뽑기 기계에 넣으면 선물이 나옵니다.
Since we were dining with a child, we also received a small gift.
At checkout, we were given a coin-like token to use in a capsule toy machine, which was a fun little surprise.
줄이 늘어나는 열쇠고리인데, 키링을 달고 다닐 때 편하게 늘려 사용할 수 있는 제품인 것 같아요. (사실 용도는 잘 모르겠음…)
일본 여행을 하다 보면 이렇게 아이들을 위한 소소한 선물이나 굿즈를 제공하는 식당들이 종종 있는데 이런 점이 은근히 섬세하게 느껴지더라고요.
The prize was a retractable keychain—something you can extend while using it with your keys. (though I’m still not entirely sure what it’s meant for 😅) While traveling in Japan, I’ve noticed that many restaurants offer small gifts or goodies for kids, and it’s these thoughtful touches that really stand out.
여행 마지막 날, 가족끼리 편하게 들어가 부담 없이 초밥을 즐기고 나왔어요 :)
가고시마에서 가볍게 회전초밥이 생각날 때 한 번쯤 들러보기 좋은 곳으로 추천하고 싶어요.
On our last day, it was a relaxed and easy meal where we could simply enjoy sushi together as a family :)
I’d recommend it as a casual spot to stop by when you’re craving sushi in Kagoshima.
