시애틀 터코마 공항 환승 후기｜국제선↔미국 국내선 이동 방법 정리

이번 미국 여행에서는 시애틀 터코마 공항(SEA)에서 미국 국내선 환승을 두 번 경험했어요.
1️⃣인천에서 시애틀로 입국한 뒤 덴버행 국내선으로 환승했고, 2️⃣귀국할 때는 덴버에서 시애틀을 거쳐 다시 국제선으로 이동했는데요.
미국 공항 환승이 처음이라 걱정했지만, 실제로 이동해보니 동선 자체는 생각보다 어렵지 않았어요. 이번 포스팅에서는 시애틀 공항 환승 과정과 국제선↔미국 국내선 이동 방법을 정리해보려고 합니다.

During this trip to the U.S., I experienced connecting to domestic flights at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) twice.
1️⃣ After arriving in Seattle from Incheon, I transferred to a domestic flight to Denver.
2️⃣ On the way back home, I flew from Denver to Seattle and then transferred to my international flight back to Korea.
Since it was my first time transferring through a U.S. airport, I was honestly a bit nervous. But after actually going through the process, the overall transfer route was much easier than I expected. In this post, I’ll share my experience transferring at Seattle Airport and explain how the international ↔ U.S. domestic flight connections worked.

시애틀 터코마 공항, 수하물 찾으러 가는 길

✅ 시애틀 공항에서 미국 국내선 환승하기 (국제선 → 국내선)

인천에서 시애틀 터코마 공항에 도착한 후 가장 먼저 수하물을 찾은 뒤, 미국 입국심사를 진행했어요. 수하물이 늦게 나와서 다 찾고나니 입국심사 대기 줄도 꽤 길어진 상태라, 저는 약 1시간 30분~2시간 정도 기다려야 했습니다.

✅ Transferring from an International Flight to a U.S. Domestic Flight at Seattle Airport

After arriving at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport from Incheon, the first thing I had to do was collect my checked luggage and go through U.S. immigration. The immigration line was quite long, and I ended up waiting around 1.5 to 2 hours before finally getting through.

시애틀 도착해서는 사진을 많이 못 찍었다.

다행히 인천에서 출발한 시애틀행 항공편이 지연되지 않았고, 환승 시간도 약 4시간 정도로 여유 있게 잡혀 있어서 큰 문제 없이 이동할 수 있었어요.
입국심사를 마친 뒤에는 수하물 재위탁과 TSA 보안검색을 다시 진행한 후 덴버행 미국 국내선 게이트로 이동했습니다. “Connecting Flights” 표지판이 잘 안내되어 있어서, 표시를 따라 이동하면 시애틀 공항 환승 동선을 크게 헤매지는 않았어요.
Thankfully, my flight from Incheon arrived on time, and I had about a 4-hour layover, so I was still able to make my connection without too much stress.
After immigration, I rechecked my luggage and went through TSA security screening again before heading to my domestic gate for Denver. The “Connecting Flights” signs throughout the airport were very clear, so the transfer process itself was not too difficult to navigate.

잠시 머물렀던 시애틀은 비가 추적추적 오고 제법 추웠다.

덴버 국제공항 터미널, Delta 항공은 Gates A에 위치해있다.

덴버 공항에서는 Gates A에서 내린 후 트램을 타고 Baggage Claim이 있는 Westin Terminal로 이동해 짐을 찾아야 했어요. 인천에서 출발해 시애틀 공항 환승까지 거친 뒤라 이동 시간이 20시간이 훌쩍 넘었는데, 정말 정신이 혼미해질 정도로 피곤하더라고요🥲 그래도 다행히 수하물은 모두 무사히 도착했고, 캐리어 파손도 없이 잘 나와서 안심했습니다.
Once I arrived in Denver, I landed at Gates A and had to take the train to the Westin Terminal, where baggage claim was located. By that point, after flying from Incheon and transferring through Seattle, my total travel time had already gone well over 20 hours. I was so exhausted...🥲 Thankfully, all of our luggage arrived safely without any damage.

✅ 덴버 공항에서 시애틀로 이동하기 (귀국 시작 / 델타 국내선)

돌아오는 비행기는 이른 아침 스케줄이라 새벽 3시에 일어나 공항으로 이동해야 했어요. 아직 깜깜한 시간에 미리 예약해둔 우버를 타고 덴버 국제공항(DEN)에 도착했습니다 :)

✅ Traveling from Denver to Seattle (Return Trip / Delta Domestic Flight)

Our return flight was scheduled very early in the morning, so we had to wake up around 3 a.m. to head to the airport. We took a pre-booked Uber through the dark early morning streets and arrived at Denver International Airport (DEN).

델타항공 체크인 카운터는 Terminal West 5층에 위치해 있었는데, 공항 내 표지판이 잘 되어 있어서 어렵지 않게 찾아갈 수 있었어요. 체크인 카운터에서는 직원분이 최종 목적지를 한 번 더 확인한 뒤 수속을 도와주셨고, 지류 티켓도 모두 받을 수 있었습니다.
The Delta check-in counters were located on Level 5 of Terminal West, and thankfully the airport signage was easy to follow. At the counter, the staff confirmed our final destination once again, helped us complete check-in, and gave us printed boarding passes for the entire trip.

최종목적지 확인 후 체크인

특히 시애틀 공항에서는 짐을 다시 찾을 필요 없이, 수하물이 최종 목적지인 인천까지 이동된다는 안내를 받아서 한결 마음이 놓였어요. 아이와 함께하는 일정이다 보니 걱정도 많았는데, 직원분이 아이에게 스티커도 챙겨주시고 전체적으로 정말 친절하게 응대해주셔서 기분 좋게 이동했어요 :)
The best part was hearing that our checked luggage would automatically be transferred all the way to Incheon, so we wouldn’t need to collect it again in Seattle. Since we were traveling with a child, I had been a little worried about the connection process, but the Delta staff were incredibly kind throughout the entire experience. They even gave my child a sticker, which made the whole check-in feel much more pleasant.

에스컬레이터 타고 6층 올라가서, 보안 검색하러 이동했다.

덴버 국제공항은 자주 방문할 일이 있는 공항은 아니다 보니, 이동하며 사진도 많이 남겨두었어요. 미국 내에서도 규모가 큰 공항으로 유명하다고 들었는데, 출국하며 둘러보니 그 이유를 바로 알겠더라고요.
체크인을 마친 후, 델타항공 카운터 뒤로 있는 에스컬레이터를 타고, 6층으로 올라가 보안검색을 받으러 갔습니다.
Since Denver International Airport isn’t somewhere I visit often, I ended up taking quite a lot of photos while moving around the airport. I had heard that DEN is known as one of the largest airports in the U.S., and after seeing it in person, I completely understood why.
After checking in, we took the escalator behind the Delta counters up to Level 6 for security screening.

보안 검색을 마치고 나면, 또 트램을 타고 이동해야한다.

보안 검색을 마치고 나면, 탑승 게이트가 있는 곳까지 트램을 타야하는데요. All Gates 표지판을 따라 열심히 이동하면 됩니다. 저는 델타항공 탑승 예정이라, A게이트에서 하차했어요.
Once through security, we had to take the airport train again to reach the departure gates. You simply follow the “All Gates” signs, and the route is pretty straightforward.

이른 아침부터 계속 이착륙하는 수많은 비행기들

A 게이트에 도착하니 아직 해가 뜨지 않은 이른 아침인데도, 공항은 굉장히 분주하더라고요. 수많은 비행기들이 쉼 없이 이착륙하고 있었고, 전광판에는 대부분의 항공편이 지연 없이 On Time으로 표시되어 있었어요. 미국 국내선 게이트와 도시 이름들이 알파벳 순서로 끝없이 정리된 모습을 보니, 미국 공항 특유의 어마어마한 스케일이 다시 한번 실감났습니다.
Even though it was still before sunrise, the airport was already incredibly busy. Planes were constantly taking off and landing, and most flights on the departure board were marked “On Time” with no delays. Seeing endless lists of domestic gates and city names organized alphabetically really made me realize the massive scale of U.S. airports once again.

✅ 시애틀 공항에서 국제선 환승하기 

덴버에서 출발한 델타항공 국내선을 타고 시애틀 터코마 공항(SEA)에 도착한 뒤에는 인천행 국제선으로 환승해야 했어요. 일단 비행기에서 내리자마자 델타항공 직원분께 대한항공 국제선 게이트 위치를 먼저 물어봤는데요. 환승 시간이 약 4시간 정도로 아직 여유가 있다 보니, 정확한 게이트 넘버는 아직 열리지 않았지만 S구역에서 출발할 예정이라는 안내를 받았습니다.

✅Transferring from a Domestic Flight to an International Flight at Seattle Airport

After arriving at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on our Delta domestic flight from Denver, we needed to transfer to our international flight back to Incheon.
As soon as we got off the plane, I asked a Delta employee where the Korean Air departure gate would be. Since we still had about four hours before departure, the exact gate number hadn’t been assigned yet, but they told us it would most likely depart from the S Gates area.

미국 공항은 우리나라처럼 단순히 숫자로만 게이트를 표시하는 방식이 아니라, 알파벳 구역으로 먼저 나뉘고 그 안에서 숫자로 탑승 게이트가 정해져 있더라고요. 그래서 S Gates, A Gates 같은 식으로 먼저 구역을 찾아 이동해야 했습니다.
Unlike Korean airports, U.S. airports are usually divided into alphabetical gate sections first, and then individual gate numbers within those sections. So instead of simply looking for a number, you first need to find areas like S Gates or A Gates.

표지판을 잘 따라가면 된다.

다행히 귀국 시에는 입국 때와 달리 추가 보안검색이나 수하물 재위탁 과정이 따로 없어서 훨씬 수월하게 이동할 수 있었어요. 미국 국내선에서 내려 국제선 게이트 방향으로만 이동하면 되는 구조라, 생각보다 환승 동선도 어렵지 않았습니다.
Thankfully, the return transfer process was much easier than the arrival transfer in Seattle. There was no additional security screening or baggage recheck required this time. We simply followed the signs toward the international gates, and the transfer route itself was surprisingly easy.

S 게이트로 이동하는 동선

S 게이트로 이동하기 위해서는 다시 트램을 타야 했는데요. 이동하면서 덴버행 국내선을 탔던 게이트 근처도 다시 지나가게 되니, 괜히 한 번 더 추억에 잠기게 되더라고요.
To get to the S Gates area, we had to take the airport train once again. On the way there, we passed by the same area where we had boarded our Denver flight earlier in the trip, and it strangely made me feel nostalgic already.

시애틀 기념 마그넷

환승 시간이 꽤 남아 있어서 공항 기념품샵도 잠시 둘러봤어요. 기념으로 시애틀 마그넷 하나를 구입했는데, 이번 여행에서는 환승만 하고 스쳐 지나갔지만 언젠가 여행해보고 싶은 도시입니다 :)
Since we still had plenty of time before boarding, we spent some time looking around the airport gift shops. I bought a Seattle magnet as a small souvenir. This time, Seattle was just a quick stopover city for us, but it definitely felt like somewhere I’d love to properly visit someday.

S 게이트 구역에는 스타벅스 매장이 없고, 자판기만 있다.

그리고 시애틀 하면 스타벅스의 본고장이라 스타벅스 시애틀 컵도 하나 사고 싶었는데요. 워낙 인기가 많은지 아쉽게도 제가 갔을 때는 이미 품절이었고, 대신 Washington Discovery Series컵만 남아 있었어요.
Since Seattle is the hometown of Starbucks, I also wanted to buy a Seattle Starbucks mug, but unfortunately it was already sold out. The only mugs left were from the Washington Discovery Series.

Peet's Coffee

S 게이트 자체는 생각보다 규모가 크지 않은 편이었고, 아쉽게도 스타벅스 매장은 없었습니다. 대신 Peet’s Coffee가 있어서 커피 한 잔 마시며 쉬어갔어요. Peet’s Coffee는 미국 캘리포니아에서 시작된 스페셜티 커피 브랜드인데, 스타벅스보다 조금 더 진하고 클래식한 커피 맛으로 유명하다고 하더라고요. 떠나기 직전에 마신 따뜻한 커피라 그런지 더 기억에 남았습니다.
The S Gates area itself wasn’t very large, and surprisingly there wasn’t a Starbucks nearby. Instead, we stopped at Peet’s Coffee for a cup of coffee before boarding. Peet’s Coffee is a specialty coffee brand that originally started in California and is known for having a slightly stronger and more classic coffee flavor compared to Starbucks. Maybe because it was the last warm coffee I had before flying home, it became one of the small memorable moments from the trip.

이제 진짜 집으로 갈 시간

이번 여행에서는 시애틀 터코마 공항에서 국제선→미국 국내선 환승과, 귀국 시 미국 국내선→국제선 환승까지 모두 경험해볼 수 있었어요. 처음에는 미국 공항 환승이 어렵고 복잡할까 걱정했는데, 실제로 이동해보니 표지판과 환승 동선이 비교적 잘 정리되어 있어서 생각보다 수월하게 이동할 수 있었습니다.

다만 미국 입국심사와 TSA 보안검색은 대기 시간이 길어질 수 있기 때문에, 국제선에서 미국 국내선으로 환승할 예정이라면 환승 시간을 최소 3~4시간 정도는 여유 있게 잡는 걸 추천해요. 반대로 귀국 시 국내선→국제선 환승은 추가 보안검색이나 수하물 재위탁 과정 없이 이동 가능해서 훨씬 편하게 느껴졌습니다.

20시간이 넘는 긴 이동을 하느라 몸은 정말 지쳤지만, 시애틀 공항에서 인천행 비행기를 기다리며 “이제 정말 집에 가는구나” 싶은 안도감도 함께 들었던 것 같아요. 이번에는 환승으로 짧게 스쳐 지나갔지만, 다음에는 시애틀이라는 도시 자체를 여유롭게 여행해보고 싶다는 생각이 들었어요.
