사쿠라지마 섬에 다녀온 후, 저녁은 스시를 먹었어요. 덴몬칸에서 평점이 높은 곳에 찾아갔는데, 그간 일본 여행하며 먹은 스시 중 최고라고 해도 과언이 아닐 만큼 만족스러웠어요.
After visiting Sakurajima Island, we decided to have sushi for dinner. We looked for a highly rated place in Tenmonkan, and it turned out to be one of the best sushi experiences we’ve had during our trips to Japan.

브레이크 타임이 끝나고 저녁 6시부터 영업 시작이라 밖에서 살짝 기다리다가 입장했어요. 노부부가 운영하시는 곳 같은데, 현재 구글지도상에는 왜인지 임시 휴업이라고 나와있네요.
The restaurant opens for dinner at 6 PM after their break time, so we waited outside for a short while before going in. It seemed to be run by an elderly couple, but recently, Google Maps currently shows the place as temporarily closed.

내부 모습

가게 내부는 바 좌석과 테이블 좌석으로 이루어진 아담한 공간이에요.
사장님 부부께서는 영어가 아주 능숙한 편은 아니라고 하셨지만 친절하게 응대해 주셨고, 영어 메뉴도 준비되어 있어 주문하는 데에는 전혀 어려움이 없었어요.
Inside, the restaurant is a cozy space with both counter seating and a few tables. The owners mentioned that they are not very fluent in English, but they were very kind and welcoming. They also have an English menu available, so ordering was not difficult at all.

노란색 물수건

자리에 앉자 손을 닦을 수 있는 노란색 물수건을 먼저 내어주셨어요.
As soon as we sat down, they first brought us a yellow oshibori (a wet towel) to clean our hands.

따뜻한 녹차

이어서 따뜻한 녹차가 나왔고, 아이를 위해서는 생수를 따로 준비해 주셨어요.
Next, we were served warm green tea, and they kindly prepared bottled water for our child.

타마고

아이 메뉴로 타마고를 주문했는데, 김밥처럼 말아 만든 롤 스시 형태로 11조각이 나왔어요.
For our child, we ordered tamago sushi, which came as a roll-style sushi similar to kimbap, cut into 11 pieces.

어른들은 디럭스 세트와 고등어 스시를 주문했습니다. 디럭스 세트는 총 10피스로 구성되어 있고, 4조각씩 나누어 순서대로 내어주셨어요.
For the adults, we ordered the Deluxe Set and mackerel sushi. The Deluxe Set consists of 10 pieces and was served in stages, four pieces at a time.

각 스시마다 간장에 찍어 먹는지, 간장 없이 그대로 먹는지 친절하게 안내해 주셨는데, 하나같이 감칠맛이 정말 좋았습니다.
For each piece of sushi, they kindly explained whether it should be eaten with soy sauce or enjoyed as it is. Every piece had an incredible depth of flavor.

고등어 스시

개인적으로 고등어 스시를 좋아해 일본에 가면 늘 한 번쯤은 먹는 편인데요. 이곳의 고등어 스시는 식초로 간한 다시마로 풍미를 더해, 비린 맛 없이 깔끔한 맛이 인상적이었어요.
I personally love mackerel sushi and usually try it whenever I visit Japan. The mackerel sushi here was flavored with vinegared kelp, which enhanced the flavor and kept it clean and fresh without any fishiness.

디럭스 세트는 마지막으로 마끼가 나왔어요. 아마 스시를 먹는 순서에 맞춰 코스를 구성해 내어주시는 것 같았어요.
The Deluxe Set ended with maki rolls. It seemed like the dishes were served in a specific order, following the traditional flow of a sushi course.

이즈로 츠카사 스시는 이번 일본 여행에서 먹었던 음식 중에서도 특히 기억에 남는 곳이었습니다. 개인적으로 인생 스시라고 해도 좋을 만큼 만족스러운 식사였어요.
현재는 임시휴업 중이라고 하는데, 너무 오래 쉬지 않고 다시 문을 열었으면 하는 바람입니다. 다음에 가고시마를 방문하게 된다면 꼭 다시 찾고 싶은 곳이에요 :)

Izuro Tsukasa Sushi was one of the most memorable meals we had during this trip to Japan. It was so good that I would easily call it one of the best sushi experiences of my life. Although it currently appears as temporarily closed, I really hope it reopens soon. If I ever visit Kagoshima again, this is definitely a place I would love to return to.
