While visiting Gildong recently, I stumbled upon a small Vietnamese pho restaurant that caught my eye. From the exterior and menu alone, I could tell it was run by locals — the kind of place that promised a truly authentic taste.

길동 시장 중심가에서 조금 벗어난 조용한 골목에 자리한 이 쌀국수집은, 처음 방문해도 찾기 쉽고 접근성이 괜찮았어요.
The restaurant is located on a quiet street near the main road, with a cozy, no-frills atmosphere that immediately felt inviting.
작고 아담한 매장이지만, 깔끔하게 정리된 내부와 따뜻한 조명 덕분에 편안하게 식사할 수 있는 분위기였어요. 아마 베트남 현지인이 운영하시는 맛집이 아닐까 추측해봅니다..
It’s a small and cozy restaurant, but the clean interior and warm lighting made it a comfortable place to enjoy a meal. From the staff and overall vibe, I’m guessing it’s run by a local Vietnamese owner — which probably explains the authentic taste!
테이블 위에는 해선장 소스, 칠리 소스 등 다양한 양념이 준비되어 있어, 취향에 맞게 쌀국수 맛을 조절하며 즐길 수 있었어요.
On each table, there were bottles of hoisin sauce, chili sauce, and chopsticks neatly tucked away in a drawer.
또한 테이블 옆 서랍에는 수저와 티슈가 깔끔하게 구비되어 있어 이용하기 편리했답니다.
이곳에서는 대표적인 베트남 음식인 쌀국수, 월남쌈, 분짜뿐만 아니라, 의외로 스팸 에그 마요 비빔밥, 냉면 같은 한국식 분식 메뉴도 함께 만나볼 수 있었어요.
그래서 베트남 음식이 처음인 사람이나, 다양한 메뉴를 즐기고 싶은 분들에게도 부담 없이 방문할 수 있는 곳이었답니다.
The menu offered not only Vietnamese staples like pho, bun cha, and spring rolls, but also some Korean-style options such as Spam egg mayo rice bowls and cold noodles — perfect for anyone dining with kids or those who prefer milder flavors.
I ordered several dishes to try: Spicy Pho, Pork Bibim Noodles, Egg Bibimbap, Spam Egg Mayo Rice Bowl, Bun Cha, and a Fresh Coconut Drink.
매운 쌀국수는 이름 그대로 칼칼하게 매운 맛의 쌀국수예요. 기본 육수에 청양고추가 들어가고, 차돌고기 외에도 햄처럼 생긴 고기가 함께 들어있어 살짝 생소했지만, 전체적으로 국물이 진하고 깔끔해서 얼큰한 국물이 생각날 때 딱 좋은 메뉴였어요.
Spicy Pho had a deep, flavorful broth with a nice kick of heat from sliced chili peppers. It included both brisket slices and a bit of ham, which was unique but worked surprisingly well. Perfect for when you crave something warm and spicy.
돼지고기 비빔면은 쌀국수집에서 보기 드문 메뉴라 궁금해서 주문해봤는데, 의외로 괜찮았어요. 비빔소스가 분짜처럼 새콤달콤하면서도 느끼하지 않았고, 고기와 채소가 듬뿍 들어가 있더라고요.
Pork Bibim Noodles were a pleasant surprise — light, tangy, and not greasy at all. It reminded me a bit of bun cha sauce, with plenty of vegetables and tender pork.
국물이 없는 메뉴를 주문할 경우(비빔밥 또는 비빔국수), 따뜻한 국물이 한 그릇씩 함께 제공되는데, 쌀국수 육수 같은 깊고 담백한 맛이 인상적이었어요.
For dishes that didn’t include soup, a small bowl of warm broth was served on the side — likely the same base as the pho, rich and comforting.
계란가득비빔밥은 계란 프라이가 무려 세 장이나 올라가 있어서 비주얼부터 푸짐했어요. 고추장은 취향껏 넣어 비벼 먹을 수 있고, 야채도 다양하게 들어 있어 향신료에 익숙하지 않은 어르신들도 부담 없이 드시기 좋은 메뉴였어요.
Egg Bibimbap came topped with three sunny-side-up eggs! The presentation alone made it look hearty and satisfying, and it’s a great option for those who aren’t used to strong spices.
스팸에그마요도시락은 짭조름한 스팸에 계란후라이, 고소한 마요소스 조합이 실패할 수 없는 맛이에요. 양도 꽤 넉넉해서 아이가 먹기에도 좋은 메뉴에요.
Spam Egg Mayo Rice Bowl was exactly what you’d expect — savory, creamy, and comforting. Generous in portion, it’s something kids would especially enjoy.
분짜는 불향이 나도록 구운 고기가 향긋했고, 느억맘 소스가 새콤달콤해서 입맛을 확 돋워줬어요. 신선한 야채와 함께 먹으니 전체적으로 깔끔하고 조화로운 맛이었어요.
Bun Cha featured grilled pork with a fragrant aroma and a refreshing balance of sweet, sour, and salty flavors from the nuoc mam dipping sauce. The fresh vegetables on the side made it all come together beautifully.
아이가 궁금해해서 코코넛도 하나 주문했는데요. 실제 코코넛을 통째로 잘라 코코넛워터를 바로 마실 수 있었는데, 특유의 달콤하면서도 살짝 짭짤한 맛이 느껴졌어요. 안쪽의 부드러운 과육도 숟가락으로 긁어 먹을 수 있어서 색다르고 재미있었답니다.
For drinks, we tried the Coconut Water, served in an actual coconut! It had that naturally sweet and slightly salty flavor that feels both exotic and refreshing — plus, scraping out the soft coconut flesh at the end was fun.
식당 한쪽에서는 베트남 현지에서 들여온 각종 소스류도 판매하고 있어서, 집에서도 그 맛을 즐기고 싶은 분들에게 좋을 것 같아요. 전반적으로 현지 감성이 느껴지는 정직한 한 끼 식사로 만족스러웠습니다 :)
Near the counter, there were various Vietnamese sauces for sale, imported directly from Vietnam, which was a nice touch for anyone wanting to recreate the flavors at home.
Overall, this was a satisfying and authentic Vietnamese meal — hearty portions, honest flavors, and that unmistakable local charm that made it well worth the visit.
