콜로라도 스프링스에 있는 Great Wolf Lodge에 방문했던 날, 체크인까지 시간이 남아 근처에 있는 SCHEELS에 구경하러 갔어요. SCHEELS는 미국의 대형 스포츠용품점으로, 쇼핑뿐만 아니라 다양한 볼거리와 체험 공간을 갖춘 이색 쇼핑몰로도 유명한 곳입니다.
On the day we visited Great Wolf Lodge in Colorado Springs, we had some time before check-in, so we decided to stop by SCHEELS, a large sporting goods store located nearby. SCHEELS is well known not only for shopping but also for its unique attractions and family-friendly entertainment areas.

스포츠용품점답게 매장 입구에는 야구와 아웃도어 활동을 즐기는 모습을 표현한 다양한 동상들이 설치되어 있었어요. Great Wolf Lodge에서 체크아웃한 날에도 다시 방문했는데, 처음 왔을 때와는 전혀 다른 날씨 덕분에 분위기도 확 달라 보이더라고요. 참 예측불가능한 콜로라도 날씨…☀️❄️
As you might expect from a sporting goods store, the entrance featured several statues depicting baseball players and people enjoying outdoor activities. We actually visited again on the day we checked out of Great Wolf Lodge, and the atmosphere looked completely different thanks to the change in weather. Colorado weather really is unpredictable!
매장에 들어서면 가장 먼저 대형 수족관과 대관람차가 눈에 띄는데요. 일반적인 스포츠용품점에서는 보기 힘든 시설이라 꽤 인상깊었어요. 수족관 안에는 실제 물고기들이 헤엄치고 있었고, 다이빙 장비를 착용한 직원이 직접 들어가 수조를 청소하는 모습도 볼 수 있었어요.
As soon as you walk inside, the first things you'll notice are the massive aquarium and the indoor Ferris wheel. These aren't features you would normally expect to find in a sporting goods store, which made the experience even more memorable. The aquarium was filled with real fish, and we even watched an employee wearing diving gear cleaning the tank from inside.
대관람차 요금은 1인당 1달러로, 아이들이 타고 싶어 해서 결국 저도 함께 탔어요…😵💫 평소 고소공포증이 있는 편이라 조금 긴장했지만, 막상 올라가 보니 쇼핑몰 내부를 한눈에 내려다볼 수 있어 색다른 경험이었어요.
The Ferris wheel costs just $1 per person. My kid wanted to ride it, so I ended up joining them... 😵💫 Since I'm not a big fan of heights, I was a little nervous, but once we got to the top, the view of the entire store was surprisingly fun and unique.
1층에는 여성 의류와 키즈 의류, 화장품 등이 주로 진열되어 있는데요. 둘러보다가 미국에서 인기가 많은 에슬레저 브랜드인 VUORI(뷰오리) 매장도 발견해 구경해 보았습니다.
The first floor was mainly dedicated to women's apparel, kids' clothing, and beauty products. While browsing, I came across VUORI, one of the most popular athleisure brands in the United States.
가격대는 알로(ALO)나 룰루레몬과 비슷한 수준으로 느껴졌어요. 마음에 드는 후디나 바지를 샀어야하는데, 여행 초반이라 너무 망설였다는…🥲 이후에는 VUORI 매장을 만날 기회가 없더라고요. 역시 쇼핑은 보일 때 해야 하나 봅니다.
The prices felt similar to ALO and Lululemon. Looking back, I probably should have bought one of the hoodies or joggers that caught my eye. Since it was still early in our trip, I hesitated and decided not to buy anything. Unfortunately, I never came across a shopping mall with VUORI during the rest of the trip. Sometimes you really have to buy things when you see them!
파타고니아 매장도 있었는데요. 확실히 가볍고 활동성이 좋은 제품들이 많아 눈길이 갔어요. 다만 아우터 가격대가 VUORI보다도 더 높게 느껴져서 아예 구매할 생각을 못했네요.
There was also a Patagonia section, which immediately caught my attention. The products felt lightweight, practical, and perfect for outdoor activities. However, the outerwear was even more expensive than VUORI, so I quickly gave up on the idea of buying anything.
의류뿐만 아니라 화장품도 다양하게 판매하고 있었어요. 특히 운동이나 여행, 아웃도어 활동 시 들고 다니기 좋은 컴팩트한 사이즈의 제품들이 많았습니다. 처음 보는 브랜드들도 다양하게 입점해 있었는데, 패키지가 예뻐서 사고 싶은 마음이 들었지만 꾹 참았어요. (왜 참았지? 그냥 살껄!😫)
In addition to clothing, SCHEELS also carried a wide variety of beauty and personal care products. Many of them came in compact, travel-friendly sizes that would be perfect for workouts, outdoor adventures, or vacations. There were also plenty of brands I had never seen before, and the packaging was so appealing that I was tempted to buy a few things. Somehow, I managed to resist....I really regret this now... 😫
선크림이나 남성용 스킨케어 제품도 다양하게 갖춰져 있어 구경하는 재미가 있었어요.
There were also plenty of sunscreen options and men's skincare products, making the beauty section surprisingly fun to browse.
제 옷은 못 샀지만 아이 옷은 하나 사주고 싶어서 클리어런스 코너를 열심히 둘러봤어요. 시즌이 지나 몇 장 남지 않은 재고들을 모아둔 공간이었는데, 가격대가 꽤 합리적이라 득템하기 좋아 보이더라고요. 마침 파타고니아 후디가 눈에 띄어 피팅룸에서 입혀보았어요.
Although I didn't buy anything for myself, I wanted to pick up something for my son, so I spent some time digging through the clearance section. It was filled with leftover seasonal inventory, but the prices were very reasonable and perfect for finding a good deal. That's where I spotted a Patagonia hoodie and decided to have him try it on in the fitting room.
색상도 예쁘고, 사이즈도 넉넉한 데다 디자인까지 마음에 들어서 결국 구매했어요. 여행 중 가장 만족스러운 쇼핑 중 하나였습니다. 계산은 대형마트처럼 매장을 둘러본 뒤 출구 근처에서 한꺼번에 하는 방식이라 편리했어요.
The color looked great, the fit was comfortably roomy, and I loved the design, so we ended up buying it. It turned out to be one of my favorite purchases from the trip. Checkout was also convenient, with all purchases paid for at centralized registers near the exit, similar to a warehouse-style store.
2층에는 레고와 장난감, 캠핑용품, 낚시용품, 건샵 등 다양한 코너가 있어 둘러보는 재미가 있었어요. 특히 한국에서는 쉽게 볼 수 없는 건샵도 있어 조금 무섭기도 하고, 신기하기도 했어요.
The second floor offered even more to explore, including LEGO sets, toys, camping gear, fishing equipment, and even a gun shop. Seeing a gun shop inside a retail store was something I wasn't used to as a visitor from Korea, so it felt both fascinating and a little intimidating.
처음에는 Great Wolf Lodge 체크인 전 시간을 보내기 위해 방문했는데, 막상 둘러보니 쇼핑뿐만 아니라 다양한 볼거리와 체험 요소까지 갖춘 공간이었어요. 콜로라도 스프링스에서 쇼핑이나 실내 가볼 만한 곳을 찾는다면 SCHEELS도 한 번 방문해 보시길 추천드립니다 :)
What started as a simple way to pass time before checking in to Great Wolf Lodge turned out to be one of the most interesting stops of our trip. SCHEELS is much more than just a sporting goods store—it combines shopping, entertainment, and unique attractions all under one roof. If you're looking for a fun indoor activity or shopping destination in Colorado Springs, I would definitely recommend adding SCHEELS to your itinerary.
