미국 로드트립 중, 콜로라도에서 Buc-ee’s를 발견했어요. Buc-ee’s는 텍사스 명물로 유명한 초대형 미국 휴게소인데, 최근 콜로라도에도 지점이 생기면서 이번 여행에서 처음 방문해보게 되었어요.
During our U.S. road trip, we came across a Buc-ee’s in Colorado. Buc-ee’s is a massive travel center that originally became famous in Texas, and since it recently expanded into Colorado, I finally had the chance to visit one for the first time on this trip.

매장 입구에는 Buc-ee’s 마스코트인 비버 캐릭터 ‘Buc-ee’의 얼굴이 크게 걸려 있더라고요. 주유소 공간도 넓지만, 휴게소 내부는 마치 대형마트처럼 느껴질 정도로 어마어마한 규모를 자랑하고 있어요.
Right at the entrance, we were greeted by a giant sign featuring Buc-ee, the brand’s iconic beaver mascot. The gas station itself was huge, but the store inside was even more impressive. It felt more like a giant supermarket than a typical roadside stop.
매장에 들어서면 쇼핑몰처럼 다양한 굿즈와 생활용품을 판매하고 있는데요. Buc-ee’s 마스코트가 인쇄된 티셔츠, 모자, 텀블러 같은 기본 굿즈부터, 인형까지 다양하게 만나볼 수 있었어요.
Once inside, we found a wide variety of merchandise and everyday items. From T-shirts, hats, and tumblers featuring the Buc-ee’s mascot to plush toys and souvenirs, there was plenty to browse.
여긴 놀이동산이 아닌데…😆 인형탈을 쓴 Buc-ee’s 마스코트가 매장 안을 돌아다니고 있어, 같이 기념사진도 남겨봤어요.
And believe it or not, this wasn't an amusement park! 😆 A person dressed as the Buc-ee mascot was walking around the store, greeting visitors and taking photos. We couldn't resist stopping for a picture as a fun souvenir from our trip.
먹거리 코너에는 간단한 스낵부터 바비큐 스타일 음식, 디저트, 음료까지 다양하게 준비되어 있었는데, 대부분 Buc-ee’s 자체 브랜드로 제작되어 판매되고 있다는 점이 인상적이었어요. Buc-ee’s에서만 만나볼 수 있는 제품들이 많아 구경하는 재미도 쏠쏠했습니다.
One of the most impressive parts of Buc-ee’s was the food section. There were all kinds of snacks, barbecue-style foods, desserts, and drinks available. What stood out to me was that many of the products were sold under Buc-ee’s own brand.
Buc-ee’s에서 유명한 것 중 하나는 육포(jerky)인데, “World’s Famous Jerky”라고 적혀 있을 정도로 자부심이 느껴졌어요. 종류도 정말 다양해서, 벽 한쪽을 가득 채울 정도로 빼곡하게 진열되어 있더라고요.
One of Buc-ee’s signature products is its jerky, and they’re clearly proud of it—the display proudly reads “World’s Famous Jerky.” The selection was incredible, with an entire wall packed with different flavors and varieties.
아이와 저 모두 육포를 좋아해서 데리야끼 맛 육포를 한 봉지 구매해 먹어봤는데, 짭짤하면서도 감칠맛이 있어서 꽤 맛있었어요. 또 코리안 바베큐(Korean BBQ) 맛 육포도 있어서 반가웠는데, 미국 휴게소에서 K-푸드 감성이 느껴지는 제품을 보니 조금 신기하기도 했습니다.
Both my son and I love jerky, so we picked up a bag of Teriyaki Beef Jerky to try. It was savory, flavorful, and surprisingly addictive. I was also excited to find a Korean BBQ-flavored jerky. Seeing Korean-inspired flavors in the middle of an American road trip felt both unexpected and fun.
매장 안에는 샌드위치 코너와 견과류, 디저트를 판매하는 구역이 따로 있는데, 이곳은 오픈 키친처럼 되어 있어서 직원들이 바쁘게 음식을 준비하는 모습을 직접 볼 수 있었어요.
Inside the store, there were dedicated sections for sandwiches, nuts, and desserts. These areas were set up like open kitchens, allowing visitors to watch employees preparing food right in front of them.
직접 먹어본 메뉴는 Chopped Brisket 샌드위치와 Carolina Pulled Pork 샌드위치, 그리고 Honey Glazed Pecans였어요.
For our meal, we tried the Chopped Brisket Sandwich, the Carolina Pulled Pork Sandwich, and some Honey Glazed Pecans.
샌드위치는 번 안에 고기가 듬뿍 들어있는 스타일로, 야채 없이 고기와 소스 중심으로 구성된 것이 특징이에요. Chopped Brisket 샌드위치는 큼직하게 잘라진 고기에 훈제 향이 은은하게 느껴지고 바비큐 소스의 짭짤한 풍미가 더해져, 든든한 식사 대용으로 먹기 좋은 메뉴였어요.
The sandwiches were packed with meat and kept simple, focusing on the meat and sauce rather than vegetables.
The Chopped Brisket Sandwich featured generous chunks of brisket with a subtle smoky flavor and a savory barbecue sauce. It was hearty, filling, and perfect for a road trip meal.
Carolina Pulled Pork 샌드위치는 푹 익혀 부드러운 돼지고기에 새콤달콤한 소스가 어우러진 메뉴로, 개인적으로는 더 맛있게 느껴져 계속 손이 가는 맛이었어요.
The Carolina Pulled Pork Sandwich was made with tender, slow-cooked pork and a sweet-and-tangy sauce. Personally, I enjoyed this one even more, and found myself reaching for another bite again and again.
Honey Glazed Pecans는 피칸에 달콤한 허니 글레이즈를 입혀 바삭하게 구운 간식으로, 고소하면서도 달콤한 맛이 잘 어우러져 계속 손이 가더라고요. 로드트립 중 가볍게 즐기기 좋은 간식이었어요.
We also tried the Honey Glazed Pecans, which were coated in a sweet glaze and roasted until crunchy. They had the perfect balance of sweetness and nuttiness, making them an excellent snack for the drive.
짧게 들러서 후다닥 구경했지만, Buc’ees는 일반적인 휴게소와는 전혀 다른 분위기라 기억에 남는 곳이에요. 먹거리부터 굿즈, 규모까지 스케일이 워낙 커서 단순한 휴게소라기보다는 하나의 여행 코스로 볼 수 있을 것 같아요. 미국 로드트립 중, 이 휴게소가 보인다면 한 번쯤 꼭 들러보시길 추천드립니다 :)
Although we only stopped briefly, Buc-ee’s left a lasting impression because it felt completely different from any ordinary rest stop. From the food and merchandise to the sheer size of the place, everything was on a much larger scale than expected. It felt more like a destination than a simple roadside stop.
If you spot a Buc-ee’s during your U.S. road trip, I highly recommend making a stop. It’s not just a place to refuel—it’s a fun and memorable part of the American road trip experience.
