이번 콜로라도 여행에서는 에스테스 파크(Estes Park)를 지나, 로키 마운틴 국립공원(Rocky Mountain National Park)을 방문했어요. 로키 마운틴 국립공원에는 다양한 하이킹 코스가 있지만, 저희는 시간이 많지 않아 가장 유명한 명소 중 하나인 베어 레이크(Bear Lake)만 잠시 둘러보고 왔어요.
During our trip to Colorado, we visited Rocky Mountain National Park after passing through Estes Park. While the park is known for its many hiking trails, we didn't have much time, so we decided to make a quick stop at one of its most famous attractions, Bear Lake.
✅ 로키 마운틴 국립공원의 관문, 에스테스 파크 (Estes Park)
에스테스 파크는 로키 마운틴 국립공원으로 들어가기 전 잠시 들르기 좋은 작은 산악 마을이에요. 아름다운 자연 풍경을 배경으로 사진을 찍을 수 있는 포토 스팟이 있어 저희도 잠시 차를 세우고 내려 기념사진을 남겼어요.
Before entering the national park, we spent a little time in Estes Park, a charming mountain town that serves as the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park. There was a scenic overlook with beautiful mountain views, so we pulled over for a few minutes to take some photos and enjoy the scenery.
이곳에는 다람쥐들이 정말 많았는데요. 사람들을 전혀 무서워하지 않고 가까이 다가와 주변을 맴도는 모습이 신기했어요. 많은 관광객들이 먹이를 주다 보니, 사람들에게 익숙해진 것 같더라고요.
One thing that really stood out was how many squirrels there were. They didn't seem afraid of people at all and would often come surprisingly close. I guess they've become quite accustomed to visitors over the years.
마침 차에 땅콩이 조금 있어 몇 알 내밀어 보았는데, 조심스럽게 다가와 땅콩을 쏙 가져가는 모습이 정말 귀여웠어요.
As it happened, we had some peanuts in the car, so we held out a few. Watching the squirrels cautiously approach, grab a peanut, and scamper away was absolutely adorable.
특히 작은 앞발로 땅콩을 꼭 쥐고 오물오물 먹는 모습을 아이와 함께 한참 동안 지켜봤는데, 여행 중 가장 기억에 남는 순간 중 하나였습니다 :)
My child and I spent quite a while watching them nibble on the peanuts with their tiny front paws. It ended up being one of the most memorable moments of our trip.
✅ 로키 마운틴 국립공원 베어 레이크 (Rocky Mountain National Park Bear Lake)
다람쥐들과 즐거운 시간을 보낸 뒤, 로키 마운틴 국립공원으로 향했어요. 베어 레이크 주차장 입구로 가까워질수록 차량들이 길게 줄지어 있었는데요. 미국 국립공원은 입장료를 내고 입장해야 하며, 저희는 일행 중 그린카드 소지자가 있어 차량 1대 기준 7일 이용권을 35달러에 이용할 수 있었어요.
참고로 2026년부터는 미국 비거주자에게 추가 입장료가 적용되면서(*2026년 상반기 기준 1인당 100불 정도) 입장 요금이 다소 인상되었다고 해요. 방문 시기와 자격에 따라 요금 및 정책이 달라질 수 있으니, 여행을 계획하고 계신다면 공식 홈페이지를 통해 최신 정보를 확인해 보시길 추천드려요.
After spending some time with the squirrels, we continued on to Rocky Mountain National Park. As we got closer to the entrance for the Bear Lake parking area, traffic became noticeably heavier, with a long line of cars waiting to enter.
Like most U.S. national parks, Rocky Mountain National Park charges an entrance fee. Since one member of our group was a Green Card holder, we were able to use the 7-day vehicle pass for $35 per vehicle.
It's also worth noting that beginning in 2026, additional fees were introduced for certain non-U.S. residents, resulting in higher entrance costs for some visitors. Since fees and policies can change depending on your eligibility and travel dates, I recommend checking the official National Park Service website before your visit.

베어 레이크는 주차장에서도 가까워 가볍게 둘러보기 좋은 곳이었어요.
잔잔한 호수와 눈이 쌓인 산 풍경이 정말 멋져서, 사진을 아무리 찍어도 그 풍경이 다 담기지 않더라고요. 실제로 보면 훨씬 더 웅장하고 아름다워요.
Bear Lake is located just a short walk from the parking area, making it an easy and accessible stop even if you're not planning a long hike.
The lake itself was absolutely beautiful. The calm water, surrounded by snow-capped mountains, created a breathtaking view. No matter how many photos I took, they simply couldn't capture the true scale and beauty of the scenery. Seeing it in person was far more impressive.
호수 주변을 따라 잠시 걸으며 풍경을 감상했는데, 맑은 공기와 조용한 분위기 덕분에 기분까지 상쾌해졌어요. 시간이 조금 더 있었다면 호수를 한 바퀴 천천히 둘러봤을 텐데 그러지 못해 아쉬움이 남았습니다.
We spent some time strolling along the lakeshore and taking in the peaceful surroundings. The crisp mountain air and quiet atmosphere were incredibly refreshing. I only wish we had more time to walk all the way around the lake and explore the area further.
짧은 일정으로 방문했지만 로키 마운틴의 웅장한 자연을 가까이에서 느낄 수 있어 정말 만족스러운 시간이었어요. 다음에는 조금 더 여유롭게 방문해 베어 레이크 주변 트레일도 걸어보고 싶네요.

Although our visit was brief, it was more than enough to experience the incredible beauty of Rocky Mountain National Park. The scenery around Bear Lake was truly unforgettable, and I'd love to return someday with more time to explore the nearby trails.
