주말에 아이와 함께 뭘할까 고민하다가, 서대문역에 위치한 농업박물관에 다녀왔어요. 농업박물관은 지하철 5호선 서대문역 3번 출구에서 약 3분 거리에 위치해 있습니다. 별도 주차 공간이 없어서 저는 대중교통을 타고 방문했어요.

Last Sunday, I went to the Museum of Agriculture near Seodaemun Station. The museum is just a 3-minute walk from exit 3 of Seodaemun Subway Station. Since there is no separate parking space, I had to take the bus.
예전에 버스를 타고 지나가면서, "이건 내 똥이 아니야"라는 기획 전시를 하고 있다는 걸 알게 되었는데요, 아이가 흥미를 가질만한 소재 같아 보였어요. 무료 전시이기도 하고, 집에서 가까운 거리라 부담없이 가보았습니다.
I found out there was an exhibition titled "This Isn't My Poop" while passing by. It seemed like a subject that would capture my child's interest. Since it was a free exhibition and conveniently located near my home, I visited without any hesitation.
농업 박물관 입장 마감은 오후 5시더라고요.
The admission closes at 5 p.m.
관람 시간은 동절기, 하절기가 다르기 때문에 미리 확인하고 방문하시면 좋아요. 기획 전시의 경우는 관람 시간이 09:30 ~ 17:00 까지에요. 휴관일은 매주 월요일, 법정공휴일, 설•추석 연휴, 그리고 근로자의 날입니다.
The exhibition viewing hours vary depending on the season, so it's advisable to check in advance before your visit. For special exhibitions, the viewing hours are from 09:30 to 17:00. The museum is closed every Monday, on legal holidays, during the Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays, as well as on Labor Day.
기획 전시실은 산뜻한 노란색으로 입구가 꾸며져있어요. "이건 내 똥이 아니야" 기획 전시는 2024년 1월 14일까지 진행됩니다.
The special exhibition room is adorned with a refreshing yellow entrance. The 'This Isn't My Poop' exhibition will continue until January 14, 2024.
리플릿와 연계 활동지도 가져갈 수 있게 비치되어 있었어요. 활동지는 유아용/초등학생용 2가지가 있는데 저는 유아용으로 챙겨서 들어갔어요.
There was an activity sheet coordinated with the pamphlet. The activity sheet comes in two versions: one for preschoolers and another for elementary school students. I picked up the one for preschoolers and went inside.

입구에는 포토존도 마련되어 있어요. 똥 머리띠와 똥 애프터눈 티세트와 함께 기념 사진 촬영을 할 수 있습니다...ㅎㅎㅎ
At the entrance, there is a photo zone available. You can capture memorable photos with a headband and an after-dinner tea set shaped like poop. (It might sound weird, but it looks cute in reality!)
기획 전시실 규모는 크지 않지만, 똥에 대한 내용을 아이들이 이해하기 쉽게 재밌게 풀어놨더라고요.
The scale of the special exhibition room may not be large, but they've presented the content about poop in a way that is easy for children to understand and enjoy.
똥은 거름이 되어 흙을 비옥하게 만들고, 그 흙에서 자란 것이 사람의 먹을거리가 되기 때문에 똥의 가치와 활용성에 대해서 다시 한번 생각해볼 수 있는 내용의 전시에요.
The exhibition explores the value of poop, emphasizing how it transforms into fertilizer, enriching the soil, and eventually contributes to the growth of the food we eat. It encourages us to reconsider the significance and practical applications of poop.
80년대는 학교에서 체변 봉투를 나눠주던 시절이었죠. 아들에게 설명해줬더니 깜짝 놀라더라고요...
Back in the 1980s, there was a time when schools distributed feces collection bags. When I explained this to my son, he was quite surprised...
옛날 화장실의 모습도 알게 되고,
The exhibition also displays the appearance of old-style bathrooms.
돋보기로 몸 속의 미생물을 살펴볼 수 있는 코너도 있었어요.
There was also a corner where you could examine the microorganisms inside the body using a magnifying glass.
옛날에는 이렇게, 화장지 대신 새끼줄에 엉덩이를 비벼서 똥을 닦아냈다고 합니다. 휴지처럼 부드럽지도 않았을텐데,,, 갑자기 조선시대로 돌아가서 살라고 하면 무지 힘들겠다는 생각이 들었어요.
In the old days, instead of toilet paper, it's said that people used to wipe themselves with a rope by flicking their bottoms. It must not have been as soft as tissue... It made me realize how challenging it would be to live suddenly transported back to the Joseon Dynasty era....
기획 전시실 앞에 가로세로 낱말 퀴즈 활동지도 있어요. 전시 관람 후, 연계활동지와 함께 진행해봐도 괜찮은 내용이에요. 농가월령도를 채색해서 인스타그램에 올리면 추첨을 통해 선물을 증정한다고 하니 나중에 참여해봐야겠어요 :)
In front of the special exhibition room, there is also a crossword puzzle activity sheet. It's a good idea to try this activity along with the coordinated activity sheet after viewing the exhibition. They also mentioned that if you color the farm age chart and post it on Instagram, you have a chance to win prizes through a draw. I think I'll participate in that later.
기획 전시를 다 본 후에는 1층의 농업 역사관과, 2층의 농업 생활관도 둘러보고 왔어요.
After exploring the special exhibition, I also took a look around the 1st-floor Agricultural History Exhibition and the 2nd-floor Agricultural Life Exhibition.
선사 시대부터 근현대에 이르기까지의 농업 발달사가 시대순으로 전시되어있어 초등학생들이 보기에 괜찮겠다는 생각이 들었어요. 마침 집에서 '세마리 토끼 잡는 독서논술' P5 단계를 아이와 함께 풀어보고 있는 중인데 연계되는 내용도 있더라고요. (*2주차- 소가 된 게으름뱅이)
The chronological exhibition of the development of agriculture from the prehistoric era to modern times makes it quite suitable for elementary school students to understand. Interestingly, I am currently working on the 'Catching Three Rabbits: Reading and Writing' Level 5 essay with my child at home, and there are related contents as well. (*Week 2 - The Lazy Man Turned into a Cow)
전시를 다 본 후에는 퀴즈도 풀어 볼 수 있었는데 아이가 재밌어하더라고요. 호미, 쟁기, 달구지 등 옛 농기구들의 쓰임새를 다시 한 번 짚어볼 수 있었어요.
There is a monitor where we could participate in quizzes, and my child found it enjoyable. We were able to revisit the uses of old farming tools such as a hoe, plow, and sickle.
규모가 크진 않지만, 부담없이 무료로 볼 수 있는 전시라 아이와 방문하기 좋았어요. 초등 교육과정과 연계되는 내용도 있고, 아이가 조금 더 컸을 때 다시 가봐야겠다는 생각이 들었습니다 :)
The exhibition isn't very large in scale, but it was a nice place to visit with my child. There are also contents related to elementary school curricula. So I thought it might be worth revisiting when my child is a bit older and can appreciate it even more.
