추석 연휴가 시작되기 전, 워커힐 호텔에 위치한 빛의 시어터에 다녀왔어요.
Before the Chuseok holiday began, I visited the "Théâtre des Lumières" located in the Walkerhill Hotel.

빛의 시어터는 몰입형 미디어 아트 전시관으로, 지하 1층의 키즈 카페가 있던 곳과 대극장을 합쳐서 리뉴얼한 공간이에요. 지난 전시였던 구스타프 클림트; 골드 인 모션을 감명 깊게 봤었기에, 두번 째 전시가 시작된 소식을 듣고 꼭 또 와보고 싶었어요.
"Théâtre des Lumières" is an immersive media art exhibition theater that has been recently renewed, by combining the space that used to house a kids' cafe and the main theater. I was deeply impressed by the previous exhibition, "Gustav Klimt: Gold in Motion," so when I heard that a new exhibition started, I really wanted to come and see it again.
빛의 시어터는 노키즈존이 아닌, 키즈 케어존이에요. 내부가 어둡고 사운드 음량이 크다보니 아이들이 다칠 수 있는 요소들이 있어, 보호자가 아이들을 적극적으로 케어해야하는 공간입니다. 저는 아이가 겁이 많은 편인데다 아이와 함께 있으면 전시에 몰입하기가 힘들어서, 짝꿍과 둘이서 갔어요 :)
Théâtre des Lumières operates as a Kids Care Zone. The interior is dark, and the sound volume is very high, so it's a space where guardians need to actively take care of children. Since my child is quite timid, and it's challenging for me to immerse myself in the exhibition when I'm with him, I decided to have some quality time with my husband instead.
2023년 10월 기준, 네이버로 예매할 경우 25% 할인이 가능하고, 제가 방문했을 때는 인근 거주자(중랑구, 광진구, 강동구, 구리시)는 40% 할인 행사가 진행중이었어요. 가까이 사는 분은 혜택 확인 후 현장 예매하셔도 됩니다. 참고로 달리, 끝없는 수수께끼는 2024년 3월 3일까지 진행돼요.
During October 2023, if you book through Naver, you can enjoy a 25% discount. When I visited, there was also a special 40% discount for residents of nearby areas (Jungnang-gu, Gwangjin-gu, Gangdong-gu, Guri City). Those living nearby can confirm the benefits and make on-site reservations. The "Endless Enigma" exhibition will run until March 3, 2024.

At the entrance, there is a brief introduction to the history of the Walkerhill Theater.
달리와 가우디에 대한 소개와 포토존도 여러곳 있었어요.
There were introductions featuring Dali and Gaudi, along with photo zones.
휴대폰을 고정할 수 있는 거치대가 있는 셀카존도 있습니다. 여러 사람이 사용하다보니, 고정하는 나사가 다 망가져있긴 했지만... 취지는 좋은 것 같아요. 덕분에 커플 사진도 남겨볼 수 있었어요.
There is also a selfie zone with a stand that allows you to mount your mobile phone. The screws for fixing it were a bit worn out, but the concept is nice. Thanks to it, we could also capture some couple photos.
이번 전시에서는 총 3개의 영상이 상영되고 있어요. 달리(The Endless Enigma), 가우디(The Architect of the Imaginary) 그리고 The Other Garden이라는 자연을 보여주는 영상이에요.
In this exhibition, a total of three videos are being screened. "The Endless Enigma" featuring Dali, "The Architect of the Imaginary" featuring Gaudi, and a nature-themed video titled "The Other Garden."
빛의 시어터에 입장하기 전에 유의사항도 한 번 확인해보고요.
Before entering the theater, it's a good idea to check for any guidelines or precautions.
상영관에 들어서니, 왼쪽에 살바도르 달리의 작품이 있었어요. 머큐리라는 제목의 브론즈 조각상입니다. 머큐리는 로마 신화에 등장하는 상업과 교역의 신인데요, 이 조각상은 워커힐 호텔 앤 리조트에서 2011년에 컬렉션한 작품이라고 합니다.
When I entered the theater, I noticed Salvador Dali's artwork on the left. It was a bronze sculpture titled "Mercurio." Mercury is a deity in Roman mythology associated with commerce and trade. This sculpture was collected by Walkerhill Hotel and Resort in 2011.
달리, 끝없는 수수께끼가 상영되기 전 카운트 다운...두구두구. 평일 낮에 방문했더니 한산하더라고요. 대형 스크린에 완전 몰입할 수 있는 환경!
I took a picture before the screening of Dali's "Endless Enigma." Since I visited during a weekday afternoon, it was relatively quiet. The environment allowed for complete immersion in the large screen.
귀에 익숙한 Pink Floyd의 노래들이 흘러나오며, 달리의 작품을 재해석한 미디어 영상이 상영되기 시작했어요. Pink Floyd는 1967년에 데뷔한 영국의 프로그레시브 록 밴드인데요. 프로그레시브 록은, 대체로 곡의 길이가 길고 새로운 소리에 대한 탐구와 실험 정신이 투철한 장르에요. 이성적인 것들을 거부하는 살바도르 달리의 초현실주의적 작품 세계와 잘 어울리는 음악이지만, 록 음악이 익숙하지 않은 분들에게는 다소 당황스럽게 느껴질 수도 있을 것 같습니다.
With familiar tunes of Pink Floyd playing in the background, a video reinterpreting Dali's artworks began to be screened. Pink Floyd is a British progressive rock band that debuted in 1967. Progressive rock is characterized by generally long song lengths and a strong spirit of exploration and experimentation with new sounds. While the surrealistic world of Salvador Dali, rejecting rational elements, harmonizes well with the music. But it might be a bit perplexing for those not accustomed to rock music.
전시관 중간중간에는 앉을 수 있는 의자와 바닥에 누워서 편안하게 즐길 수 있도록 쿠션들이 준비되어 있었어요.
Throughout the exhibition hall, there were chairs and cushions on the floor, allowing visitors to sit and comfortably enjoy the artworks.
공간에 따라 느껴지는 감상 포인트가 다르기 때문에 이곳저곳 옮겨다니며 감상했습니다 :)
I moved around the space to appreciate the artworks from different perspectives, as the experience varied depending on the location within the venue.
짝꿍과 쿠션에 누워서 관람하기도 하고요.
I enjoyed Gaudi, lying down on the cushions...
상영관 중간의 의자에 앉아서 보기도 했어요. 언제쯤 스페인 여행을 가서 사그라다 파밀리아 성당을 두 눈으로 직접 볼 수 있을지, 상상만 해봅니다.
I also sat on the stools in the middle of the screening room. I've never been to Spain before, so I found myself wishing to visit the Sagrada Familia Cathedral and witness its beauty with my own eyes.
- STUDIO
상영관 안 쪽 STUDIO에서는 컨템퍼러리 쇼도 상영중이에요. 작은 공간에서 짧은 영상이 2개 상영되니, 이 공간도 잊지말고 꼭 들어가보시길 추천드려요.
There is a small space called STUDIO, and a contemporary show is being presented. Two short videos are screened in here, so I highly recommend checking it out.
- GREEN ROOM
대극장의 분장실, 대기실을 재현한 공간인 그린룸. 예전엔 촬영 소품들이 있었는데, 관리가 어려웠는지 소품은 없어졌더라고요. 이 공간은 조명이 예뻐서 사진이 분위기 있게 나옵니다.
The Green Room, is a space recreated to resemble the dressing room and waiting room of the main theater. I took a few photos here, because the lighting was so nice.
관람이 끝나고 나오면, 바로 아트샵으로 연결이 돼요. 재입장은 불가합니다.
After the exhibition, the exit is directly connected to the art shop. Please be noted that re-entry to the theater is not allowed.
달리는 자신을 찾아오는 손님에게 늘 페렐라다의 로제 스파클링 와인을 대접했다고해요. 그래서인지 판매중인 페렐라다, 달리 에디션 와인.
It is said that Dalí always treated guests who came to see him with Peralada's Rosé Sparkling Wine. Perhaps that's why the Peralada Dalí Edition wine is currently available for purchase as merchandise.
입술 소파 모양의 지우개와 휴대폰 거치대도 판매중이에요.
Erasers and phone holders in the form of "Lip Sofa" are also available for sale.
지난번과 마찬가지로 웅장한 스케일에 늘 감탄하게 되는 빛의 시어터. 짝꿍과 전시가 바뀔 때마다 매년 방문하기로 한 곳 중 하나입니다 :)
The grand scale of the Théâtre des Lumières never fails to impress me. It's one of the places I have decided to visit every year whenever a new exhibition starts.
